Rudas Thermal Baths

Rudas Baths are a real institution in the city. Its origins are very old and today they still reflect the majesty of the past.

Rudas thermal baths were built thanks to the will of the Pasha Buda Sokoli around the second half of the 13th century, during the Turkish occupation. The baths are located near Gellert hill in Buda.

Today it is still possible to admire elements from that period which reflect its majesty, both of the north side of the baths and on its central hall, characterized by a octagonal shaped pool covered with red marble and bordered by 8 columns and featuring a 10 meter diameter dome.

During the years Rudas thermal baths have been restored several times. The last restoration dates back to 2014, when a totally new area was added in order to offer more services. Its contrast between old and modern make this structure unique and appreciated all over Europe.

Thanks to their aesthetics, in 1988 the baths were used as a location for the movie Danko, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi.

Thermal waters

View from the terrace of the Rudas baths

Rudas’ thermal waters are rich in hydrogen, calcium, magnesium, sulphate, as well as a ions concentrate of fluoruro and sodium. These waters are very suitable to treat degenerative illness such as slipped disc, lack of calcium, chronic arthritis, and much more.

Rudas Baths are a fully equipped structure: inside you will find different pools to enjoy some relax and fun. There is a spa, and if you are traveling with kids there is also a kids pool and a fountain with drinking water, which – of course – has healing properties.

The water temperature goes from 11°C to a maximum of 42°C, according to the pool and to the treatment you have chosen.

Tickets

There are different types of tickets to access to Rudas baths, some of which are available at discounted rates. For further information, please visit the official website of the structure. The ticket office closes one hour before the closing of the facility.
